Remembering Uncle "Cokie" Walter, with sincere condolences to Nina, Tanya, Michael and Matthew; as well as siblings Albert and Barbara. I had the opportunity to reacquaint myself with Uncle Cokie while caring for my father, Walter's younger brother, Alexander. Pop and Uncle Cokie would talk by phone on occasion while I was visiting and since pop's hearing required the loudest speakerphone, I had the opportunity to hear from Walter too. I was so impressed by how strong his voice sounded, how busy he was caring for Marian, just how "with-it" he was. Most memorable was Uncle Cokie's trip to North Carolina, just before Pop passed away in May 2019. After a phone conversation where my Pop shared that he was not long for this world, Walter showed up at the door early the next morning. He visited with his brother, had a cup of coffee and with hugs and some teary eyes, he headed back to NY, as Marian had a doctors appointment early that week. That short, but extremely special visit was so important to my Dad, and therefore to us. I last spoke with Uncle Cokie by phone in late September, he was just back from his birthday visit west to see family. He sounded great, strong, excited to be traveling  and looking forward to traveling again. I feel blessed for the opportunity to reconnect and to witness the love shared between nonagenarian brothers. Love to all.
